Plot

Physics professor and genious Dr. Jane Darlington, 34 years old, wants a baby, but not a husband. She wants a baby of normal IQ, and therefore a stupid man. She decides that Cal Bonner, a legendary quarterback for the Chicago Stars is perfect. Jane sets her plan into action and after some trail and error she succeeds. But Cal discovers her duplicity, and it turns out that he is far from as stupid as Jane thought.

Ending

Cal wants to marry and subsequently divorce, to avoid letting the child be born out of wedlock. They quickly get over with the first part. Furthermore, to avoid media attention and to easier revenge her action, he takes her to his little hometown. By living together, he does succeed in being a pain in the ass for her, and a combatant in rowdy quarrels, but she is just as much so to him. Later, quarrels are mixed with intimacy, first physical and later fully emotional as well. They decide to remain married.
